Running Project
Ganpat Patil Nagar, a slum settlement in Dahisar, Mumbai, is currently facing a humanitarian crisis due to repeated demolition drives carried out in the name of forest protection. While preserving nature is vital, the rights and dignity of thousands of families living in this area cannot be ignored. Most residents are daily wage workers, laborers, and migrants who have no alternative shelter or support system.
In late 2023, 123 houses were demolished, rendering many families homeless overnight. The affected people are struggling to access food, water, healthcare, and education. The situation is further aggravated by debris dumping, illegal commercial encroachments, and poor coordination between authorities.
Our Mission
Under the leadership of Dr. Mohammad Irfan, our Trust has initiated a people-first mission to:
✅ Advocate for humane and lawful rehabilitation of affected families
✅ Demand fair investigation into illegal encroachment and corruption
✅ Protect the rights of displaced residents through legal and administrative support
✅ Raise awareness against selective demolitions that ignore powerful encroachers
✅ Promote a balanced approach that protects both environment and human life
Our Actions So Far
Conducted field visits and documented ground realities
Submitted petitions to local and state authorities
Mobilized volunteers for emergency aid (food, blankets, shelter kits)
Engaged legal experts to explore rehabilitation options
Started awareness campaigns to gather public support
What We Demand
Immediate halt to unjust demolitions without proper rehabilitation
Transparent survey and demarcation of land before demolition
Rehabilitation plans for all displaced families
Strict action against commercial encroachments on forest land
Government-led slum redevelopment plan with citizen participation
